In their photographic stories, Lydia Bergida and Marco Limberg portray some of the last living “Righteous Among the Nations”. The people honored by the Yad Vashem memorial who saved Jews persecuted under National Socialism are contemporary witnesses who stand for humanity and civil courage. They remind us to take responsibility for the here and now.
With this homage to the “silent heroes”, the photographers pay tribute to the “righteous” and give them a voice to draw attention to the threats to democracies, hatred, wars, anti-Semitism and other forms of misanthropy worldwide.
Lydia Bergida and Marco Limberg want to convey the humanity and values of these people who have shown and lived up to their convictions and who can serve as role models for present and future generations.
“On the same side” is a photographic document that encourages reflection on the reality of our lives and addresses the relevance of resistance and courage.

Lydia Bergida

lebt in München. In ihrer fotografischen Arbeit fokussiert sie sich auf verschiedene Aspekte gesellschaftlichen und alltäglichen Lebens. Dabei hebt sie die Bedeutung von Menschlichkeit wie auch die Wichtigkeit von humanistischen und demokratischen Werten hervor. Ihre Ausstellungen wurden u. a. im Jüdischen Museum München, im Willy-Brandt-Haus Berlin sowie im Münchner Justizpalast gezeigt.

Marco Limberg

lebt in Berlin. Er fotografiert seit über 30 Jahren soziale und politische Themen, fokussiert auf die Menschen. Als Artdirector der Wochenzeitung „Jüdische Allgemeine“ macht er jüdisches Leben sichtbar. Seine Bilder erscheinen in großen deutschen Medien wie „Spiegel“, „Stern“ oder „Süddeutsche Zeitung“ und wurden u. a. im Deutschen Bundestag, im Jüdischen Museum Berlin und im Willy-Brandt-Haus ausgestellt.
