A guide to visible and hidden sites of Jewish life in Northeastern Berlin

The Synagogue Rykestraße in Prenzlauer Berg, the Jewish congregation’s former orphanage in Pankow or the Jewish cemetery in Weissensee are widely known Jewish sites in Northeastern Berlin. And yet, so many more traces of historical Jewish life, as well as a vibrant Jewish present can be found there.
Three walking tours with 62 stations through today's three districts Pankow, Prenzlauer Berg and Weissensee lead to visible and hidden Jewish sites like the Jewish Home for the Aged, the Auerbach orphanage, Ernst Lubitsch’ place of residence, Departmentstore Jonaß, Garbaty Square, the Nursing Home for the Jewish Deaf-Mute, Bleichröder Park, the Jewish Labour Colony or Departmentstore Brünn. Memorials and stumbling blocks attest to a manifold culture of commemoration. Historical photographs illustrate the texts. Maps aid in exploring these sites on foot, by bike or with public transport.
