Die Judaistin Marianne Awerbuch, geboren 1917 in Berlin, emigriert 1939 nach Palästina, 1966 zurückgekehrt nach Berlin, dort gestorben 2004. Schon als Schülerin wird sie begeisterte Zionistin. Sie arbeitet für die Jugend-Alija, in Palästina arbeitet sie als Pädagogin. Nach einem Studium, das ihr in Deutschland nicht möglich war, lehrt sie als Professorin an der TU und FU in Berlin. Ihr Thema ist das Verhältnis von Christentum und Judentum, von Deutschen und Juden. Im Anhang des Buches ist ein Aufsatz ihres Sohnes Jonathan Awerbuch abgedruckt.
