Komponistenporträt Hans Gál
Hans Gál (1890–1987) studierte Komposition und Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Wien, wo er ab 1919 selbst als Lektor für Musiktheorie unterrichtete.1929 wurde er Direktor des Konservatoriums der Stadt Mainz, musste jedoch 1933, nach der Machtübernahme der Nationalsozialisten, aufgrund seiner ungarisch-jüdischen Abstammung Deutschland wieder verlassen und emigrierte 1938 nach England. 1945 erhielt er eine Stelle als Lehrer für Musiktheorie, Kontrapunkt und Komposition an der Universität Edinburgh. Aus Anlass seines 125. Geburtstages präsentiert dieses Programm eine Auswahl aus Hans Gáls umfangreichem Schaffen.Eva Fox-Gál, die Tochter des Komponisten, führt in die Werke ein.

"Auschwitz heute": Photographien von Martin Blume
"Auschwitz heute" ist ein Kooperationsprojekt des Memorial and Museum Birkenau Oświęcim, des Hentrich & Hentrich Verlags und der Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb. Die Basis des Crossmedia-Projekts bilden die Schwarz-Weiß-Photographien von Martin Blume, die er in einer Serie seit vier Jahren an der Stätte des KZ Auschwitz-Birkenau erarbeitet hat. Neben dem Bildband ist eine Wanderausstellung u.a. in Oświęcim und den USA, Frankreich und Osteuropa geplant sowie eine Web Documentary auf bpb.de entwickelt worden. Am 27. Januar 2015 werden die Photographien bundesweit in ausgewählten öffentlichen Räumen durch einige Landeszentralen für politische Bildung, u.a. im Landtag Rheinland-Pfalz und im Willy-Brandt-Haus Lübeck, projiziert. Ergänzend wird eine "Edu-Edition" der Publikation an Schulen verliehen.
